OPENING OF THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE WORLD ECONOMY CENTER

An all-university research unit that has been operating for a year, the UKSW Center for World Economy analyzes current events, processes and economic phenomena, as well as scientific research and development work of an interdisciplinary nature in fields related to the socio-economic development of Poland, Europe and the world. Since October 11, the Center has had its headquarters on the fourth floor of Building 23 on the campus on Wóycickiego Street.

The official opening of the headquarters was carried out by Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education and Science, Government Plenipotentiary for the Reform of the Functioning of Research Institutes Wojciech Murdzek, His Magnificence Rector of UKSW Rev. Prof. Ryszard Czekalski and Director of CGŚ, Prof. Konrad Raczkowski.

The director of the Center for the Global Economy explained the genesis of the unit. – The CGŚ originated from practical needs. At some point, it turned out that in Poland we do not have specialized economic analysis that can be created in a short period of time. Our Center is just such a place. We are currently working on several projects, including a project on macroeconomic stability for the National Bank of Poland. We are also focusing on our main project, economic diplomacy and international economic relations.

Rev. Prof. Ryszard Czekalski, Rector of UKSW, stressed that many valuable ideas are being born within the walls of our University. – One of them is the Center for the World Economy. Under the guidance of Professor Raczkowski and thanks to his personal contacts in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, we are trying to get into the meanders of the world economy. For the University, this is an important place where economic analysis will be produced to serve not only Poland, but also other countries.

Creating such a unique site in difficult times is a definite step forward. During crises, some economies, institutions, companies, but also countries fall into deep collapse, but with wise information management and proper analysis, they can also grow. This is also the economic goal of our country – to use this difficult time correctly. There are, of course, many centers that do this kind of economic analysis. The Center for the World Economy has the advantage over other centers in that the starting point here will be a scientific outlook. – Wojciech Murdzek.
