The Center for World Economy and the Department of Managerial Economics, Institute of Economics and Finance at the Faculty of Socio-Economics, paying homage to the Master-Disciple principle that has always existed in the tradition of the academic community and referring to the Code of Good Practices in Higher Education, organized on 06.05.2023 on the UKSW campus in Wóycicki Street in the R. Schuman Auditorium, a scientific conference entitled. “ECONOMIC SCIENCES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF KARDYNAŁA STEFANA STEFANA WYSZYŃSKIGO TO THE CIVILIZATIONAL CHALLENGES OF THE MODERN WORLD AND THREATS TO ECONOMIC SECURITY” combined with the jubilee of the 50th anniversary of the professional, scientific and research and teaching work of Prof. zw. dr. hab. inż. ZENON STACHOWIAK.

– 50 years of professional work is a moment when a person has accomplished a great deal in his life. For Professor Zenon Stachowiak, it is also the moment when we contractually bid him farewell from the academic community. Only hard work builds hard characters and makes a person respect what he has, and the professor is a perfect example of hard work,” said Prof. Konrad Raczkowski, UKSW Vice-Rector for Financial Affairs, on behalf of Rev. Prof. Ryszard Czekalski, opening the conference.

The conference was attended by people who pioneered the development of economic sciences at Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University. One such person was Professor Marek Lisiecki, Ph.D., who presented the genesis and directions of the development of economic sciences at our University.

– Today I face another challenge – to present the history of the development of economic sciences at UKSW. A university without economic sciences is not fully a university,” said Prof. Lisiecki, “At the same time, I would like to thank Prof. Zenon Stachowiak, PhD, for his contribution to the development of economic sciences at UKSW, as well as for the implementation of economics in security sciences.

– The Center for the World Economy is both a donor and a recipient of intellectual capital. I hope that we will be able to support the University, and the University will be able to support us,” said Prof. Konrad Raczkowski, presenting a forum for the opening of the economic community to research work that meets the challenges of civilization in the modern world on the part of the Center for the World Economy.

Another highlight of the program was a speech by the President of WUZETEM, which sponsored the conference. Ms. Anna Scieszko-Osinska, MA, presented reflections on the economic security of the enterprise in the context of the dilemmas of shaping and countering threats.

– Security is a responsibility, and its beneficiaries are all of us. The responsibility for security lies with all of us. It takes courage, humility and wisdom to ensure it,” Anna Scieszko-Osinska, M.A., summarized her speech.

The last item in the first part of the conference was a speech by Prof. UKSW Dr. Seconda Bwanakare titled. “On the need to dynamize quantitative research in economics”.

The second part of the conference began with the delivery of a laudation in honor of Prof. Zenon Stachowiak, PhD, by the Rector of the Managerial Academy of Applied Sciences, Prof. MANS Dr. dhc Zbigniew Ciekanowski. Dr. Tadeusz Masiowski, Prof. Dr. Jacek Pawlowski and Brig. Gen. Dr. Włodzimierz Zieliński also chose to speak with words of appreciation.

The final part of the conference was an address by the jubilarian himself, Prof. Zenon Stachowiak, PhD, who presented reflections on his scientific and research activities, as well as teaching and education.

– Patriotism has stayed in my blood and constantly marks my path of action,” concluded Prof. Zenon Stachowiak.
